Matt Russell CBA "Twisted Mr"
Matt started in the industry working in the party section of a craft and homewares store creating basic balloon decor items in 2007. After attending Balloonstitute in 2010 he decided to go out on his own and start his own business. Having found balloon twisting and in turn a new passion, he started practicing and learning diferent balloon figures. Matt is now a very sought after balloon asrtists with a passion for both balloon decor and balloon Twisting
Matt Has been appearing at kids parties, Weddings, corporate events as well as markets and festivals for the past five years. At nearly every event people will stop and watch Matt twist balloons and get amazed at what he can create.
In June 2011 Matt sat his exam & became a CBA (Certified Balloon Artist). In 2012 Matt attended WBC
(World Balloon Convention) in Dallas Texas as part of the Aussie Contingent competing in the Balloon Column for which he received a Bronze Achievement Award and also as Co-Designer with Amanda Griffiths CBA on the Aussie Large Sculpture with them both spending a whopping 27 hours each constructing the design along with the Aussie team! For this deisgn they also received a Bronze Acheivement Award - this trophy is on proud display at Qualatex Brookvale. in 2014 Matt once again competed in the Balloon Column competition at WBC gaining a Bronze Achievement Award. In 2015 matt attended ABC (Australaisian Balloon Convention) he competed in the medium sculpture, wearable balloon fashion, balloon column and corporate image competitons. He took out 1st place in the wearable balloon fashion and corporate image. Matt has a passion for education and training and will attend training and compete in when ever it is possible for him to.
In early 2012 Matt was asked to teach at the Qualatex OzJam event in Sydney. Since then Matt has been asked to teach multiple times for both BASA (Balloon Artists and Suppliers Association) and suppliers. He is highly regarded in the industry for his passion and commitment for the industry and helping others improve their skills and knolwedge to grow thier business. In 2014 Matt was selected to be an ambasador for WBC (World Balloon Convention) a privlege only given to six balloon artists around the world.
